This year's race management talks are taking a slightly different tack from the recent past and we'll be focusing on the overall view of racing, race events as well as race management. We've planned a series of six talks that build from a basic understanding to the more intricate aspects of the RYA rule changes in 2025. Peter Saxton is also running an RYA Regional Race Officer course in February and we've timed the talks to fit in with the course for those who are taking part. Also new this year is Protest Committee Training with John Doerr!

We are looking for members who might enjoy sitting on a protest committee. It may not sound like fun, but it can be very interesting. Our protest committees are normally chaired by a qualified judge so you would not have to worry about the procedures. Experienced sailors make the best protest committee members. The idea of the training is just to help members feel comfortable to volunteers to sit on a protest committee. It is not a very onerous commitment as in a normal year we have less than 10 hearings and each one depends on your availability.
