Well done Phil
Congratulations to our boatman, Phil Baker, one of four Lymington RNLI crew members who were presented with commendations from the RNLI’s Director of Lifesaving Operations in recognition of their dramatic rescue of four people stuck on the marshes in 2019, in very challenging conditions.
The Lymington lifeboat launched in the early hours of the morning on the 29 September 2019 to a RIB with four people on board. After a careful approach in extremely heavy weather and zero visibility, the casualty vessel was located on the lee shore of the marshes with an ebbing tide. Due to the challenging conditions and difficulty of the approach, two crew members entered the water and made their way to the casualty vessel. Each of the four casualties were walked out to the lifeboat which then proceeded to the station with one of casualties immediately taken to be treated for the symptoms of hypothermia. Without the intervention of the crew there was an imminent risk to the lives of those on board the casualty vessel.
Welcome Jake!
Welcome to our Waterfront Assistant , Jake Swainston, who is working part time to support Phil, Barrie and Iain. Jake is new to Lymington and has come on really well in the role so far. We wish him an enjoyable summer here at the Club.
